The Choicer Voicer
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
This game is in early access. Understand that this game is a work in progress and has many unresolved bugs, and that purchasing it now means you accept that some or all of it will not work on your PC.
One of the most well-known and game-breaking bugs is that players can hear themselves with the live mic, and the waveform sampling works, but they cannot hear their recorded audio. This is an issue with Godot's AudioEffectRecord node and does not yet have a solution. I haven't diagnosed what causes someone's audio setup to succeed or fail with it.
Another known issue is that OBS scene switching can cause a crash. This appears to be an issue with Vulkan. Starting with Version 0.4.14, a "Compatibility" version is included, which does not use Vulkan, and may give more stability (though this has yet to be confirmed).
I strongly recommend downloading the "No Gamplay Demo" version and verifying that the game runs without lag, and that your microphone works in the Mic Check before you consider purchasing.
Please read these notes before deciding to purchase:
- This version 0.4 is the first public release. Version 0.5 will feature many updates as well as some changes to pack structure and files.
- It's not optimized for older and lower-end builds. Additionally, it can apparently be a resource-hog, especially at higher resolutions.
- Although Mac support is planned, creating a Mac-version has far more roadblocks compared to Linux and Windows.

For individuals who only wish to create and test mod packs for The Choicer Voicer, the customization menu is also available for free, under the demo download.
There are many issues with the current build. When you discover a problem, please report it to "feedback.yeahmaybe@gmail.com" and be as specific as possible regarding specs and problems. In particular, I've been struggling to pinpoint the cause of the mic issues reported thus far.

can someone explain why the demo is called no gameplay demo
Mainly performance and mic testing, you cannot actually play the game.
Also stated in the description, includes templates for pack creation.

There's a small issue when trying to reproduce characters' high-pitched voices. The microphone barely picks up anything.

hey there, me and friends are wondering how to add images to the no gameplay demo
please i need some help doing so!!
Go the where the game is stores the files:
C:/User/[USERNAME]/AppData/Roaming/YeahMaybe/ChocierVoicer/game/
or click on the "Open Game Folder in Browser" button on the main menu.
After that go into the "packs_voice" folder.
After that go to the voice pack to want to add images to. If you want to have a specific image for an audio file, then have the image file name be the same as the audio file name. If you want one image for the intire voice pack, then add an image and name it "_pack_filler_image".
If you want to learn more modding stuff, then click the "Modpack Gudies" button on the main menu.

Is there a central hub where people upload their custom judges, voice packs, etc.? Best I can find was a Nexus Mod page with a voice pack and a theme pack and a GameBanana page

The issue is most likely due to an issue with the version of the Godot Engine being used. There's a bug of some kind where microphone recording and playback won't work if the output(?) device is surround sound. Unfortunately, it appears out of my control for the time being, but some people have had luck by changing their audio output device.
